Shared Hosting Rate Adjustment & Legacy Plan Sunsetting

Effective December 1, 2021, we will be adjusting annual and monthly subscription rates for existing shared hosting customers. This change is effective today for all new accounts.

What rates are changing?

For simplicity, we currently only offer a singular Shared Hosting plan. That plan has the option for either monthly billing or annual billing (at a discounted rate). Our annual option is increasing from $149 to $199. Our monthly option is increasing from $15 to $19. We are also sunsetting all of our legacy plans that may still be in place for a small subset of customers. All of these changes take effect beginning on any invoices generated on or after December 1, 2021.

Why are rates increasing?

This increase is the result of rising costs in the hosting marketplace as well as improvements made to better our service and reliability over the last several years. Even with these small increases, our pricing still remains below our direct competitors with similar features and reliability ratings.

One of the main components driving this price increase is a change in licensing structure by one of the industry’s primary software providers, cPanel. This change has impacted almost every hosting provider. In 2019, cPanel began licensing their software based on the total number of client accounts rather than the total number of whole servers. For most hosting providers, this resulted in a very large increase in licensing fees.

Aside from this, we’ve also made a number of improvements to our service that have increased reliability, security, and overall uptime. We introduced CloudLinux for improved performance, caged filesystems for better security between clients, and ImmunifyAV+ for early malware detection. Those are just a few of the many recent improvements. These changes have resulted in our clients experiencing virtually no downtime in the last several years.

What legacy plans are being discontinued?

Since we started offering web hosting, we have had several different plan iterations. We have allowed customers to remain on these plans through previous pricing and feature adjustments. It is no longer financially feasible for us to continue to support these plans. Common names that you would see on an invoice to indicate a legacy plan are RC-100, RC-200, RC-300, A Simple Setup, or The Dynamic Duo. If your invoice says Shared Hosting, you are on a current plan.

What will happen if I have a legacy plan?

Between now and December 1, your plan name will change to Shared Hosting. If you are currently on a monthly or annual billing cycle, your billing cycle will remain the same. If you are on any other billing cycle, such as semi-annual or quarterly, it will convert automatically to a monthly subscription. You may contact us to change this option.  Any invoices generated for service on or after December 1, 2021 will reflect our updated rate. If you wish to make a change to your account options, you should do so prior to December 1, 2021.

I don’t want to continue with this change. What can I do?

We wholeheartedly understand that any increase in cost is less than ideal. We also can’t express how grateful we are for the long-time customers that have been with us since the beginning. We can assure you that we have worked diligently to place our shared hosting product at a very competitive price point. Over the last several years our customers have enjoyed virtually no downtime and have rated our services a 100% 5-star rating. Knowing this, we analyzed pricing of companies that we feel deliver a comparable quality product with an equally high level of customer satisfaction. We also carefully read the fine print on promotional terms offered by other hosts to make our comparison. If, after researching on your own, you still feel as though you would not like to go forward with this change we encourage you to contact us to discuss the change further.

If you still feel as though you would like to discontinue service, you can submit a termination request through the client portal. We recommend that you create and download a full backup through cPanel prior to termination to retain your data or to provide to another host.
